When shipments are too large for standard LTL freight rates and too small to require the need for a full truckload, they tend to fall into a shipment type called Volume LTL or Partial Truckload.
Each LTL freight carrier has their own limits to determine what qualifies as a standard LTL shipment and what needs to be a Volume shipment. LTL Freight Shop has the experienced staff and relationships with carriers to help you choose the carrier that best fits your needs for each and every shipment.
A volume shipment will range from LTL carrier to LTL carrier, but usually this type of shipment will be 7 pallets or more and will typically have a total weight over 7,000 lbs. It is important to always Request a Volume Freight Quote to ensure that you have the correct shipment cost from the beginning. If this is not done in the beginning, LTL carriers will frequently re-class or re-weigh your shipment and the charges could increase drastically.
If your shipment will take up more than 28ft or 20,000 lbs, it may be a better option to request a quote for a Full Truckload Shipment.
